The award-winning Pennsylvania Convention Center

is located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia and incorporates the adaptive reuse of a National Historic Landmark, the Reading Terminal train shed, as the grand entry hall and ballroom. As one of three firms collaborating on the center, KMA developed details and construction documentation for the 400,000-square-foot exhibition hall occupying two city blocks and led the renovation and refurbishment of Reading Terminal Market. Completed in 1993, the project received a national honor award for regional and urban design from the American Institute of Architects.

We have teamed with many architectural firms over the years and Kelly/Maiello is one of the best. We enjoyed a true collaboration through the project challenges for six years. The relationship was collegial and professional, resulting in an award-winning facility for Philadelphia and the state

With the expansion, the Pennsylvania Convention Center encompasses more than two million square feet, a 60% increase of meeting and exhibit space in the existing facility.

A dramatic transparent facade marks the new main entrance on the North Broad Street Avenue of the Arts. KMA, one of three architecture firms in the design team, was responsible for interior and exterior details, construction documentation and coordination of engineering of the Arch Street concourse and 13th Street tunnel. The same design team worked together on the original award-winning project.
